What Is IICRC?

IICRC is a non-profit certification body that sets and monitors the standards for inspection, cleaning and restoration service industries.  It is controlled by sixteen regional, national and international industry associations and few individual shareholders. Its mission is to advance communication and technical proficiency in the science of cleaning and restoration.  The Institute cooperates with all segments of the cleaning, inspection and restoration industries in order to improve product quality, value and service to the consumer.

ICRC also approves instructors, schools and courses that meet its qualification requirements. The IICRC approved instructors are experienced and have a good reputation within the industry. IICRC certification categories encompass Residential Carpet Cleaning, Commercial Carpet Maintenance, Rug Cleaning, Upholstery, Fabric Cleaning, Leather Cleaning to name a few. A typical course covers both theory and practice. The certification requires taking up continuing education courses. The benefits involve obtaining instruction in up-to-the-minute techniques and promoting the company services as IICRC certified. In addition, IICRC works on developing relationships between registrants and affiliated partners in carpet and upholstery manufacturing.
